Wisdom

Wisdom is such a slippery term. "That was a wise decision," we say when someone acts quickly on their feet. When I think wisdom, I also think of random old people sitting under a tree, sharing proverbs and their life stories. If I were to define wisdom, I would say it is the ability to see beyond the immediate, whether that means taking proper precautionary measures like wearing a mask in crowded spaces, opening a savings account for your children, or paying attention to your spiritual life.
No matter how you define wisdom though, there is one thing I think we can all agree on - wisdom is the pathway to long life. The kick here though is that this applies to true wisdom, wisdom that comes only from God. Any other wisdom is foolishness.
Wisdom brings success.
Ecclesiastes 10:10
If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed.
The wisdom of God is found in His word, in the gospel.
1 Corinthians 2:7
But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.
The wisdom of man can never compare to God's.
Proverbs 3:7
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
1 Corinthians 1:25
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.
Wisdom is worth getting.
Proverbs 4:6-7
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Ecclesiastes 7:12
For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, But the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.
God gives the gift of wisdom freely, just ask!
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given to him.
Thank you for reading, and may the peace and love of Christ be with you all!
