Who/What Sits on the Throne of your Heart?

There are so many things to work for, to appreciate, and to love in this world, and it becomes really easy to love them a little more or hold them a little too high than we should. Success, money, people, role models, goals, whatever it is. So, it is very important to take the time to reflect, not every once in a while, because a lot can happen in a while, but as often as you can.
Every time it comes to mind, think about whether that thing is becoming a little too important to you. Is it taking over your priorities? Is it beginning to guide your actions? Are you more loyal to it? And maybe a little scarier, are you beginning to worship that thing? Don't be in a hurry to deny that last question, because if your answer to the first three was yes, then it's not likely to be no for the last one. It's better to catch it sooner than later.
If your answer is no, then good, keep evaluating yourself as often as possible and work to keep it that way. If yes, it's not the end of the world. It's good you know now, so you can work from here. Here's a suggestion. Make an honest list of where your priorities are right now, or the things that you spend more time with, if you fake it, it won't be of any help to you. Then make one of how you think it should be or how you want it to be. Take the initiative to either increase or decrease the amount of time you spend on/with each priority, and keep evaluating yourself frequently and see how things change.
It goes without saying that as Christians, God should be the only one who sits on the throne of our hearts. If not, it's idolatry. The truth is in this world, we have to work hard to make sure that God is our only god. You can't remain stagnant, because the current of the world is pushing in the opposite direction. It's either you try your hardest and swim against the current, or allow yourself to go with it. I hope and pray we all continue to do the former. Peace and love of Christ be with you all!
