Hi everyone!
We've been seeing multiple occurences of police brutality against Black people for so long, more especially in these past months, and I'd like to believe that we are all familiar with the Black Lives Matter movement. There have been many back-and-forths about it, and multiple opinions about it exist, but the purpose of this post is not to state my opinion about it, but a fact: that the BLM movement is all about love.
As christian, we are taught that the 2nd greatest commandment, right after loving God, is to love your neighbor, and Jesus tells us in Luke 10:25-37, the story of the Good Samaritan, that our neighbors are all the people we see around us, or come in contact with. We can't say we love our neighbors if we see terrible things happening to them, and do nothing about it. That is what the BLM is, a means to stand up for our neighbors who are being unjustly dealt by the police. And as for the All Lives Matter and Blue Lives Matter, or any other person who misunderstands the movement as a show or supporter of Black superiority, Black Lives Matter doesn't mean that Black lives matter more than others. Yes, all lives matter, but at this point, Black lives seem to matter less to our police.
1John 4:20 says, "But if we say we love God and don't love each other, we are liars. We cannot see God. So how can we love God, if we don't love the people we can see?" So let us all go out into the world, and love Black people, love the police, and everyone else we see. Peace and love of Christ be with you!
