So, after writing the last post, I was inspired to start a series of short posts about "interesting" names of God. If you didn't read the last post, go check it out here, but the point is to inspire deeper worship by understanding the names we call God, as well as to get a deeper insight into who He is as described by His many names.
The name, "Ebenezer," actually has a whole story behind it! You can read the full thing here (1 Samuel 7), but the main gist is that the Israelites were being oppressed by the Philistines, and they went to Samuel and begged him to plead to God on their behalf. When the Philistines came again to attack them, Samuel offered a burnt offering to God, and God gave the Israelites the upper hand, and they were victorious. Verse 12 says, "Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” "
I guess it's a bit obvious where I'm going with this. The name, Ebenezer, means (not literally) that God is our helper. So, when you remember the countless times He's helped you through difficult situations or helped you achieve a goal, give praise to your Ebenezer.
Peace and love of Christ be with you all!!!
