I decided to continue where we left off before my hibernation, with some of the really powerful names of God.
This is one name that really held me. I had never heard anybody use "Amen" to refer to God, and to me, it was just a response to prayers. If you've read the book of Revelations before, you know that in chapters 2 and 3 (the messages to the seven churches), each message starts with "To the angel of the church in [insert name here] write: These are the words of [insert 'special' name of God here]..."
In Revelations 3:14, it says, "These are the words of the Amen..." So, what does it mean for Jesus to be called the Amen? Let's first understand what the amen we say at the end of our prayers means. According to Names For God, the original Hebrew word 'aman' means to confirm, support, or establish. It later gave rise to the Greek, and later Latin, word 'amen,' and when we say it at the end of our prayers, we're asking God to confirm, support, and establish the requests we made.
If Jesus is the Amen, it means He's the confirmation and establishment of our requests, God's will, and God's promises to us. The words following the Amen in the verse (Rev. 3:14) help us understand further, "....the Amen, the faithful and true witness..."
Jesus is the expression of God's faithfulness and a witness to God's promises established through Him. So, say that 'Amen!' like you mean it, and as you do so, remember that God's promise to us has already been fulfilled, and is continually being fulfilled. That's the reason you can make those requests directly in the first place. Worship the Amen!
Peace and love of Christ be with you all!!!
