Nothing's Off-Limits

I think a lot of people feel the need to have this rigid extra-formal relationship with God. And while, yes, of course, we must respect Him, and He's not our mate, we don't have to limit the scope of our relationship to just going to church, bible study/devotion time, "regular" prayer, praise time, etc. Those things are all important, but the little things add so much more depth and help us get/feel a lot closer to God.

I like to talk to God a lot. I don't easily open up to other people, and I don't often share what I think about or what might be going on, but it's so much easier with God because He already knows, and I'm sure I can trust Him to listen and to steer me the right way. I'm still amazed every time He tells me exactly what I need to hear. Not through some whisper in the wind, but maybe some verse I come across a couple days later, or someone might just randomly talk about it, but I know it's God. It's really great to have an all-knowing friend, because sometimes, even with pure intentions, our friends just don't know what to do, or might think they do but end up leading us the wrong way. Or if you don't have good or trustworthy friends, maybe you've been burned before by someone who spilled your secrets, this is a better alternative isn't it?

You're not too imperfect for God. Remember, Jesus was human too. He faced many of the same troubles that we do now. Is it fake friends? Just look at Judas for one, or many of the disciples that left Jesus because his journey was too difficult, or Peter that denied Him three times in one night. Is it temptation? I don't personally know anybody else who fasted for 40 days and nights and then got tempted by food and endless riches. Is it a difficult situation you must endure? Don't you remember Jesus crying in the Garden of Gethsemane begging God to take His cup from Him if possible just before his arrest, trial, and crucifixion?

Hebrews 4:15 tells us that, "we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin." Who could be more qualified to be a listening ear and give us advice than the person who went through the same situations that we do, yet emerged victorious every single time? We can draw strength from Him, lean on Him, talk to Him.

Talk to God about anything and everything. He cares about the littlest thing. As you're walking home or driving home, tell Him about your day. Take a nature stroll and tell Him what you like about what you can see, hear, or touch. Tell Him what you're struggling with, what you're worried about, what you're scared of. Anything that comes to your mind, share with Him. Nothing's off-limits.

Peace and love of Christ be with you all!!!
