God Likes You

I think at this point, we all know that God loves us. The real question is, do you think God likes you? Don't answer this in a haste. Think about it seriously. Do you sincerely think God actually likes you? A reflex answer would be yes. I mean, in typical relationships, like comes before love, right? So, if God loves us then he should like us, right? But deep down in your heart, think about yourself through and through, think about your character, your likes, your dislikes, your strengths, your weaknesses, your flaws, do you think God likes you?

Maybe your answer has changed. Maybe you're thinking, “let's be honest, why would God like me? There's nothing special about me, I sin all the time, I don't even talk about him to my friends about Him. Why would God actually like me?” Let me give you something else to think about. What do you think is the difference between the love a parent has for their birth child versus the love a parent has for their adopted child? No, think about it seriously. Here's my answer. The parent probably loved the birth child from the moment it was conceived, but they probably liked the adopted child before they loved it. They probably met the child a couple of times. Maybe, the first time, they thought the child was cute. Maybe, the second time, the child did something that touched their heart and made them start liking it. Maybe, they felt some sort of attachment eventually to that child and fell in love with it.

However the pre-adoption interactions proceeded, the parents must have thought about it properly before making the decision to adopt that child. They must have reflected deeply and known that they would be able to care for the child, provide for the child, love the child, before making that decision. So, yes, they like the child.

In a similar way, we were adopted into God's family, so, yes, He loves us. Yes, He likes us. God likes me. God likes you. No matter what it is you think you've done that seems unforgivable, whoever told you you were unlovable, the Father's love is greater. We all know the story of the prodigal son (click this link to read). That’s the type of love God has for us, unwavering and unconditional. Repeat it to yourself again. God loves me. God likes me.

Peace and love of Christ be with you all!
