Don't Stop

I am so excited and grateful to see this new year, and I pray you all have an amazing one!
I don't know how many of you made or still make new year's resolutions, but I can't lie... I'm not the biggest fan. However, it is important to reflect on how the past year went, things you maybe want to do differently this time around, and so on.
For me, last year was quite a ride. I'm sure some of you also may have noticed some inconsistency in posting and even updating the Instagram page (which if you don't follow, you totally should right now! @christ_like_blog)
In navigating everything that was going on, my dad gave me a piece of advice worth sharing and that I think we should all hold on to in this new year: whatever it is that you're doing for God, don't stop. Maybe you made a commitment to spend at least 30 minutes reading the word every day, or you're building a habit of prayer walking, or maybe it's just to consistently read the blog posts. Perhaps you decided to serve in your church in some capacity, or you have a ministry/evangelical goal you've been working towards. I know it's hard; it's never easy. You might be tempted to give up, maybe already doing so like I was, but don't stop. You may need to adjust some of the parameters you were originally working with (for me, that is the frequency of posts), and you might need some assistance - a mentor, or a partner, but whatever you do, don't stop.
Here are two points regarding this to think through.
1. It's God's will.
If you're doing something genuinely and sincerely for God, seeking to glorify Him, then you are doing His will. The Bible tells us to seek God in Matther 6:33 and countless other times to glorify Him with all that we are/have. I once doubted if doing this blog was God's calling or just me doing whatever I wanted, but think about it this way: why won't God want me to spend time in His word and share about it?
2. Only what's done for Christ will last.
I love this quote from a poem by C.T. Studd, "Only one life, 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last."
While this is in no way meant to discourage you from living a productive life on earth, the truth is that one day, everything here will be gone. All the time we put into studying or building our businesses, none of it will matter in heaven. So what will? The people we talked to about our faith who ended up believing and giving their lives to Christ, the relationship we build with God throughout our lives. It is unavoidable that we have to give a chunk of our time to things like school and work. It can be overwhelming at times, but it is super important that we carve out time for what is the most essential.
That's it for today, and to conclude, here's my "new year's resolution" for this blog. I won't stop. I already know how rough of a semester I'm going to have soon, and I still haven't yet decided how often I'll be posting, but I won't stop.
Happy new year, and may the peace and love of Christ be with you always!
