Backsliding

So, we know that we've been saved by grace through the blood of Jesus, but it's pretty easy to fall back on old habits, ways, and/or addictions. However, the Bible lets us know in 2 Peter 2:20 that

"If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit," and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”

Now it sounds pretty bad, huh. We have to avoid backsliding as much as we can, and 1 John 2:24 tells us how to. "As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father."

In other words, we have to remind ourselves of everything we've learned by listening, reading, re-listening, re-reading, and studying the word. It never gets old because we can get new revelations from the same scriptures, and remind ourselves of old messages.

Yes, we're not perfect, but we are expected to work towards perfection. And to do that, you can't be taking one step forward and two steps backward. We can't afford to backslide as Christians, so we need God's help. And if you notice that you are already backsliding, or have backslid, it's never too late. Seek help from God and from people around you. Seek support, but hold yourself accountable as well. You can always message me as well, I'd be glad to talk with you.

Peace and love of Christ be with you all!!!
